As we immerse ourselves in the holiday season, most of us find plenty to be grateful for. I love decorating our tables, cooking and sharing meals with my family – all of which I’m incredibly thankful for. Did you know there is power in gratitude? That feeling of warmth, excitement and peace carries much weight in our lives!
The Power of Gratitude
Picture a snowball rolling down a hill. As it rolls, on its way it picks up more and more snow, doesn’t it? (At least it does in cartoons!) Your experience with gratitude can be very similar. When you learn to be grateful, you’ll attract more and more things you are thankful for into your life. It’s amazing the things we see when we simply change our mindset, as well. When we focus on what we have, rather than what we have not, our attitude is so much better! Here are some concrete benefits of using the power of gratitude in your life.
- Improve Relationships
Consider how you feel when someone thanks you or points out how special you made them feel for showing gratitude. Appreciate the people in your life and let them know just how much you do. It will strengthen your relationships in ways you can’t even imagine. And here’s a challenge for you: Try to find ways to appreciate people who rub you the wrong way. Express gratitude to them and note how things change!
- Attract What You Want
The universal law of attraction says we attract more of what we focus on. Don’t you want more positive instead of more negative? It’s time to change your thoughts and focus on all the good things in your life to draw even more of them to you. Focusing on the positive automatically reduces negativity in your life – powerful!
- Improve Your Health
Meditating on all that you have to be grateful for provides numerous health benefits. When you are in a state of true gratitude, your energy is one of acceptance and peace. You’re vibrating at a higher frequency and attracting more of this peace and goodness to you! Meanwhile, you can reduce anxiety and stress, heighten your energy levels and spiritual awareness, increase self-esteem and improve your physical, mental and social well-being. What are you waiting for? Start that meditating today!
How to Harness the Power
There are many simple exercises you can practice to incorporate the power of gratitude into your life. You could keep a gratitude journal. Try ending each day by making a list of 10 things you’re grateful for. You can meditate on your gratitude by sitting quietly and focusing on several things you are thankful for. Try affirmations that state specific things you appreciate and repeat them often.
